What this site collects, and only with your consent: visit counts from Google Analytics.
Who is responsible
This is the personal site of Md Nasim Anjum, Manchester, UK. I decide what is collected here and why. Questions go to nasimanjum1995@gmail.com.
What is collected
Nothing, unless you allow it. The first time you visit, a small card asks whether I may count your visit. Until you choose Allow, no analytics script loads and no analytics cookie is set.
If you allow it, Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, records:
- the pages you open, how long you stay and how far you scroll;
- where you came from (a search, a link, a post) and your approximate location, to the city;
- your device, browser and screen size;
- a few actions that tell me the site is working: using a way to contact me, a button that leads to my work or to contact, and reaching the end of a post.
Google Analytics does not store your IP address. It does not see what you type, and it is not used for advertising: Google signals, ads personalisation and data sharing for Google's own products are all off.
Cookies
With your consent, Google Analytics sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_<ID>, which tell one visit from the next and last up to two years. Your choice itself is kept in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie, and I ask again after a year. The site sets no other cookies.
Changing your mind
Choose Cookie settings at the foot of any page. If you decline after allowing, the Analytics cookies are deleted and the script is unloaded.
Who else handles data
Google processes the analytics data for me under its data processing terms. It deletes the record of each visit after two months, and what ties a returning visitor's visits together after fourteen months without a visit. The site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps short-lived server logs to run and secure the service. Fonts are served from this site, not from Google.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete personal data I hold about you, or object to its use. Email me at nasimanjum1995@gmail.com. If you are not satisfied with my answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
